The Pug Dog Knocker ™ was designed by Michael Healy, an accomplished Rhode Island artisan known for his Unique Door Knockers. Michael loves dogs and has always enjoyed the company of Pugs. Bred as a companion dog, the Pug originated in China around 700 BC. Legend has it that an ancient law stated only the emperor could own a pug. In his design, Michael captures the Pug’s big eyes, wrinkled brow, and friendly face. The Pug Dog Knocker ™ is cast in solid bronze. It was handcrafted using the age-old art of foundry casting. During this process, molten bronze is heated to over 2200ºF and then carefully poured into a handmade sand mold. This mold is used only once, giving your Dog Knocker ™ its individual character. The Pug Dog Knocker ™ was treated with a dark patina, then hand polished and coated with a clear lacquer to protect its original finish.
