The Pomeranian Dog Knocker ™ was designed by Michael Healy, an accomplished Rhode Island artisan known for his Unique Door Knockers. Michael has always loved dogs and was interested to learn that the Pomeranian is a descendent of sled dogs in Iceland. Through much careful breeding, the breed’s size has decreased considerably, but it still retains the luscious coat of its ancestors. The average weight of the Pomeranian is between three and seven pounds. The Pomeranian Dog Knocker ™ is cast in solid bronze, and weighs nearly as much as the dog itself. It was handcrafted using the age-old art of foundry casting. During this process, molten bronze is heated to over 2200ºF and then carefully poured into a handmade sand mold. This mold is used only once, giving your Dog Knocker ™ its individual character. The Pomeranian Dog Knocker ™ was treated with a dark patina, then hand polished and coated with a clear lacquer to protect its original finish.
